A Young Woman’s Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking Results In a DUI, Mental Health Concerns, Depression, and Time Locked Up In Jail
Jesse had an extremely hard time maintaining a job. If truth be told, because of her indolence and lack of drive, she was out of work far more frequently than she was gainfully employed. And when she did land a job, she had a hard time getting to work on time, she regularly got less than acceptable performance evaluations, and she called off sick so often that she typically got fired two or three weeks after she started working. To no one’s amazement, one of the consequences of Jesse’s deplorable employment track record was the fact that she was virtually broke most of the time.
In spite of Jesse’s less than positive work track record and financial misbehavior, then again, by hook or by crook she made it a point to drink in an abusive manner on a daily basis.
So it came as no big jolt when Jesse got a fifth DWI. When she went before the court, the judge stated to Jesse that her alcohol-related actions was shameful and, as a consequence, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve twelve months incarcerated in jail.
Time Behind Bars To Reflect On The Negative Effects of Hazardous Drinking
During her time in jail, Jesse was required to learn more about alcohol facts, about the devastating results of hazardous and excessive drinking, and she was expected to get alcohol therapy. The magistrate highlighted the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol rehab and discovers how to live an alcohol-free life, she will most likely be spending a considerable amount of time in the city jail.
Jesse articulated that she understood what the judge was declaring but she still proclaimed that placement in the county jail was not the right ruling. The magistrate saw things in an entirely different way and proclaimed that it was his professional job to keep individuals off the streets who drive and drink and who get arrested for one or more DUIs. To authenticate this perspective, the magistrate articulated some long-standing, thoroughly researched alcohol statistics that pointed to some of the damaging effects that are associated with abusive and irresponsible drinking.
Even though Jesse comprehended that she drank in a hazardous manner, she never believed that she was an individual who was addicted to alcohol. So it was a big bombshell when Jesse began having symptoms of alcohol withdrawal nearly six-and-a-half hours after getting locked up in the municipal jail.
To deal with her alcohol withdrawals in a harm free manner, Jesse was transferred to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation hospital for alcohol detoxification and then returned to the local jail. While locked up in the county jail Jesse was given a mental health appraisal for her depression and received alcohol therapy but because she got this rehab as something that was forced upon her, she was unsuccessful in taking ownership of her excessive and hazardous drinking.
When her time in the county jail was finished, the judge forcefully told Jesse that she would be under stringent surveillance and would be required to take periodic random breath alcohol tests.
Jessie’s Abusive and Excessive Drinking Prevents Her From Living in an Accountable and Effective Manner
After hearing how Jesse neglected to take ownership of her drinking circumstances and how she unenthusiastically followed the rehab regimen while in the local jail, the judge knew that it was only a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about her excessive drinking behavior. As the judge thought about Jesse’s circumstance, he couldn’t help but think about how some people never ”get it” and discover how to live in an adult and responsible manner.
