question about child support lawyer?
My boyfriend needs to get one for his hearing. can he just call the public defenders office? or is there another place? we are in ny, if that helps.
Im pretty sure you dont need a special "child support" lawyer any lawyer will do. just look up some good ones and go talk to one. good luck.

Get a lawyer, a PD wont help (that’s for criminal cases). If you don’t get a decent lawyer the court and public aid will eat him alive.

Well while child support can land you in jail, you haven’t be charged with a criminal offense. I do not believe that you are entitled to a public defender. Child support is a numbers game. It all boils down to a percent of his earnings going to support his children. With medical support being a seperate yet combined issue.
If he is in trouble for not paying his child support, or they served him with a motion to enforce. Then he may be in trouble. The potential punishment can range from probation, in a non criminal manner to jail time being served. I suggest you find a family law attorney, especially if dealing with the Office of the Atty General
